Looking at the cover, if you thought the team has a strong resemblance to the Fantastic Four, you would be right dear reader! However, this group goes by “Mystery Incorporated”, not to be mistaken with ScoobyDoo’s group of the same name.
That is until we start meeting three of the four members of the group. First, we have the sharp mind and body of Craig Crandall, aka Crystal Man! He is a genius who can morph his crystalized body into any shape he wants, with the added ability of increasing his already vast intellect with his Crystal Clarity.
Next, we have Tommy Baxter, aka the hot headed, electric Kid Dynamo! This youngster has the ability to convert his body into pure electricity, travel through devices, and fly at enormous speeds! However, we learn that water can have quite the affect on him.
While the team checks fan mail, Jeannie goes off to do her own business. She notices a green-clad archer, intruding upon the facility. However, the intruder seems to be acting in reverse and disappears. The team sets off to locate the intruder. Kid Dynamo goes off on his own.
Suddenly, the team is attacked by their own traps and defenses. By the way, keep that red-clad fellow on the top panel in mind, he’ll be important in issue 2.
The team eventually defeats their traps, and Crystal Man takes over one of their mechanical contraptions. Meanwhile, Kid Dynamo is captured in an electronic trap after a long fight with the mysterious figure, eventually being kidnapped.
After figuring out the origins of how the mysterious figure traveled to their facility, the team sets off to find their missing comrade.
Where did they go? Who was the archer? Will they find their teammate? I can’t tell you just yet.
