Here's the deal. I really don't want to get into Andrew Rev's contracts, and for the most part, I doubt we'll ever actually see a new Supreme or Youngblood comic from Terrific. So I'm mostly going to ignore the noise. That said, this is interesting.
An artist working for Rev got angry for non-payment of work so he shared some pages. He said the writer's name is Leon MacKenzie. And it appears to be a Kid Supreme book, which includes the Supremacy, multiple Supremes and maybe Original Dax (um... maybe not). Check it out:
There's another artist, Gabriel “Eskivo” Santos, who was the first person to come forward publicly about Terrific and Rev, saying they didn't pay him for work last year, has also shared some of the art he did online. He was an artist on a proposed Supreme book, I don't know if was to be the same as this one or some other book. but while he wouldn't reveal many details of the story as he said that would be up the writer, he said it did involved Kid Supreme having grown up and taking over the mantle of "Supreme"
ReplyDeleteRight. I get the feeling like someone over there had a grand plan for it all, but with the way things are shaping up, I'm doubtful we'll ever see any of it.
DeleteHopefully one day, Andrew Rev will get to a point where he has to sell the rights and someone more competent will pick them up.
DeleteSo Rev didn't buy the rights outright, he licensed them (like Dark Horse used to have the license for Star Wars or Aliens) from another entity that owns them (the entity that Liefeld originally sold them to). There's a rumor that he's already lost his license to them. Liefeld fans are hopeful that Image or Liefeld will reacquire the license.
DeleteOh, lord. I hope that's true. Seeing Supreme again, especially handled by a talented writer who knows what they're doing and gets paid what they're worth, would mean the world it me.
